February 2026 Butter Babe: Alicia McLemore
I met Alicia’s husband Chris when I was in high school! Lots of time has passed since then and I received an email from his wife one day saying she was praying for my business and wanted to see how she could help us grow and support us in any way! It was out of the blue and exactly what I needed. I have gotten to know her since that email and she is such a gift! Alicia is full of spunk, energy, kindness, hope and Jesus! Take a moment to read over her blog answers and get ready to celebrate her and our other Butter Babes at this year’s brunch.
1. What is a Butter Babe?
If I can be honest, I didn't know what a Butter Babe was until I visited the site. A Butter Babe is a woman who trusts God to work through her, knowing that she can do nothing without Him. She bears the fruit of the Spirit—joy, love, peace, kindness, and faithfulness—and can only do so through the help of the Holy Spirit.
2. What are your life verses?
I have a few life verses, but the one I quote daily is:
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you." (Matthew 6:33)
Another verse that encourages me is:
"You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; at Your right hand are eternal pleasures." (Psalm 16:11)
Every day, I desire God to show me His path. Because of His presence, I can experience joy no matter what comes my way.
3. How do you face challenges?
I face challenges by going to God's Word. He reminds me:
"Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing." (James 1:2-4)
His Word strengthens me and helps me endure every season.
4. What is something you have overcome?
I have overcome many things, but the one that stands out most is depression and anxiety. It became so severe that I felt paralyzed. At first, I didn't even realize what I was dealing with until a doctor was honest with me about my condition. It was difficult to accept, but once I acknowledged it and began opening up, healing began. God used that journey to bring restoration and growth into my life.
5. What always makes you laugh?
One thing that always makes me laugh is seeing someone else laughing—even when I have no idea what they're laughing about! Before I know it, I'm laughing right along with them.
6. What book do you read repeatedly?
The book of Psalms is one I read over and over again. I also love reading prayer books because I have such a hunger for prayer and spending time with God.
7. What song best describes your current season?
The song that best describes this season of my life is "Been So Good" by Elevation Worship featuring Tiffany Hudson.
The lyric that moves me most is:
"You've been so good to me. God, I can't believe how You love me. What a friend You have been."
God has truly been my friend, and I couldn't ask for a better one.
8. What is your favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because it gives us an opportunity to slow down, gather with family, enjoy a meal together, laugh, talk, and reflect on everything we're thankful for.
9. What would you say to someone who feels overwhelmed?
I would lovingly remind them that it is not God's will for us to carry life's burdens alone. The Lord invites us to cast all our cares on Him. When we become overwhelmed, it can be a sign that we're trying to do things in our own strength rather than relying on His.
Trust me—I know because I've been there. I've had to learn to pause, evaluate my responsibilities, and seek God's guidance. The Lord wants us to enjoy the work of our hands, not be crushed by it. It has taken some hard lessons along the way, but I'm learning more each day to trust Him as I navigate life.
10.What legacy do you want to leave behind?
I know it may seem like I talk about Jesus all the time—and honestly, I do. He is always on my heart and mind. I love Him because He first loved me, even in my sin. Through Him, I have been saved from death to life.
The only legacy I want to leave behind is Jesus.
If you walked in my shoes, you would understand that I don't deserve the honor God has given me. Yet here I stand as a testimony that God is able to turn your mess into a message. He says, "Forget the former things; look, I am doing a new thing."
I have been forgiven, set free, and transformed by His grace. Today, I boldly proclaim that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. My prayer is that others would experience the same love, freedom, and hope that I have found in Him.
